Canine Parvovirus

Parvo is an infection that tears through the animals gastrointestinal tract. It can affect dogs of all ages if unvaccinated but is most common in unvaccinated dogs under 1 year old. Direct contact between dogs is NOT require to spread the virus. It spreads through feces and can live in the environment for up to 1 year. Because of this, it spreads rapidly. Dogs can survive this IF they get aggressive treatment by their veterinarian in hospital. If left untreated, it's fatal. A simple vaccine can also prevent this from happening.
